Commonly Asked Questions

When is the best time to prune Acmena smithii ‘Sublime’?
The ideal time to prune Sublime is in late summer to early autumn after its main flush of growth. You can also lightly trim in spring to shape and encourage dense, tidy foliage. Regular pruning will maintain a compact, healthy hedge.

How do I maintain Acmena smithii ‘Sublime’?
Sublime is low maintenance. Water regularly while establishing, then only during extended dry spells. Apply a slow-release native fertiliser in spring, mulch annually, and prune as needed to keep a neat, dense form. It’s naturally pest and disease resistant.

How far apart should I plant Acmena smithii ‘Sublime’ for a hedge?
For a dense hedge, plant Sublime 1 to 1.5 metres apart, depending on how quickly you’d like it to fill in. Closer spacing will create a faster screen, while wider gaps suit a more open, natural look.
