Description

Blood Oranges are known for their distinctive red or crimson-colored flesh, which adds a vibrant and rich hue to your citrus harvest. The fruit has a sweet and slightly tart flavor, making it a delicious addition to both fresh consumption and culinary uses. Like other citrus trees, the Blood Orange is evergreen, providing lush greenery throughout the year. The glossy leaves contribute to the attractiveness of the tree, especially in a Mediterranean-themed garden.

Good draining is also a must, along with a layer of mulch will also help keep the moisture in the soil.

When do Blood Oranges produce fruit?

It can take a couple of years for oranges to produce fruit, be patient and look after the health of your plant and you will be rewarded. Most varieties of orange will flower during Spring – Summer, followed by fruit in Autumn – Late Spring.

Are Citrus suitable for planter pots?

They are particularly suitable to planters, however ensure there is still adequate room for growth. Blood oranges are a slightly larger growing variety, keep this in mind when selecting a suitable planter.  Make sure your plant stays well hydrated as potted plants dry out more quickly than they would in the ground. Rotate the pot ever few months to encourage even growth all over the plant.
